Description

From the birth of Caesar to the death of Cleopatra, the history of Rome was that of a century among the most tumultuous and violent of all antiquity, but it also contains a wealth of extraordinary personalities and universal geniuses: Pompey, Caesar, Mark Antony and Octavian but Cato Brutus, Cassius and Agrippa also played their cards in the struggle for absolute power.

After the civil wars between Marius and Sylla, the period was marked by the social war between Rome and its Italian allies, the civil war led by Spartacus, and several major wars of conquest in Spain, Asia and Gaul. After Julius Caesar's victory over Vercingetorix, the civil wars resumed in an unbroken series..

Alea Iacta Est is a strategic historical game for two players. It narrates the civil wars that tore the late Roman Republic to shreds and paved the way for the establishment of the Prinicpate. The period covered extends from Caesar's crossing of the Rubicon with soldiers of the XIII Legion to Octavian's closing of the doors of the Temple of Janus.
