Board Game Magazines

Board game magazines are one of the most historically significant archives in the hobby. Before BoardGameGeek and publisher blogs, gaming magazines were how players discovered new games, debated design, and stayed connected to a community still finding its shape.

General hobby publications like Games magazine covered the hobby broadly across multiple eras. Publisher house magazines like Avalon Hill's The General, published from 1964 to 1998, documented board and wargame design in real time, with designer notes and variant rules never reprinted elsewhere. Many issues also included playable content: counter sheets, card sets, and complete games as inserts, which is a meaningful distinction for collectors.

Noble Knight has been sourcing gaming magazines through collection purchases for decades, with inventory spanning recent issues through genuinely scarce early printings that rarely surface in collector condition.
