Currahee! by Donald R. Burgett is a firsthand combat memoir chronicling the experiences of a young U.S. Army paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division (“Screaming Eagles”) during the D-Day invasion of Normandy in June 1944. The title comes from the regiment’s battle cry and motto.

Panzer Leader (original German title: Erinnerungen eines Soldaten, meaning "Memories of a Soldier") is the autobiography of German General Heinz Guderian, written during his imprisonment by the Allies after World War II and first published in English in 1952. The book provides a detailed account of Guderian’s military career, focusing on his pioneering work in armored warfare and the creation of Germany’s panzer divisions in the 1930s.

Brazen Chariots is a vivid, day-by-day memoir by Major Robert Crisp, a South African-born British tank commander in the Third Royal Tank Regiment. First published in 1959, it is widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed narratives of tank warfare in World War II.

Stalingrad chronicles the siege and destruction of the German Sixth Army, written by ex-war correspondent Heinz Schroter and based on official German records, memoirs and interviews.

The Battle of the Bulge (originally published in 1947 as Dark December) is a detailed, first-hand account of the German Army’s last major offensive of World War II, which took place from 16 December 1944 to 25 January 1945. Written by Robert E. Merriam, a U.S. Army captain and later chief of the Ardennes section of the Army Historical Division, the book offers a blow-by-blow chronicle of the Ardennes offensive, drawing on his direct experience during the battle and extensive postwar interviews with both Allied and German officers, as well as examination of battle records.
