Description

Folk Horror Roleplaying for Four Level 3 Characters

You are about to weave your own dreadful tale that will terrify and delight your players. This adventure, the Crooked House, is a folk horror story for 5E in which the characters investigate a haunted house to find and rescue Phillip and Adela Druskenvald, who have been kidnapped.

Before Running this adventure, you'll need the 5E basic rules or core book, as this chapter assumes familiarity with the game's mechanics. As the Game Master (GM), it is your role to play as the world, and everything else within it. You are the Crooked House itself-the creaking floors, the warped walls, and the beasts and spirits that dwell within.

You are also guiding the players, who take the role of Player Characters (referred to as "characters" in this adventure). They are the protagonists of this horror story, and you are responsible for being their senses; they cannot fully experience the terror of the Crooked House without knowing what they see, hear, smell, and touch.

Adventure Features

The adventure includes background information, general guidance, and location features, as well as how encounters, NPSs, and monsters should be presented and where their treasure might be found.

Pay close attention to the formatting and cross-references thorughout the adventure. When a creature's name is bolded and marked with a symbol or when a magic item's name is italicized and marked with a symbol, those details can be found in the back of the book.
