Description

The Italian attack on Egypt in 1940 opened a new front in World War II. For the next three years, fierce battles were fought in the deserts of North Africa. The entry of German troops into the action provided the Axis countries with temporary successes. However, the Allies did not intend to give up the initiative, launching new counterattacks one after another.

System : Great Battles 1939-1945 ( WB-95)

Scale: brigade - regiment

Scenarios: 8

  • Italian Blitzkrieg
  • Compas I
  • Compas II
  • Rommel's Attack
  • Brevity
  • Battleaxe
  • Crusader
  • Gazala
What does it involve:
The players' task is to capture or hold victory points, which are located in key places on the map for the course of the battle.

What makes this game stand out:
Its special feature is short scenarios with a limited number of units, where every regiment and every brigade counts and where even a single unit can decide victory or defeat. Large, empty spaces guarantee a very maneuverable nature of individual battles, where it is impossible to create compact defense lines.
On the Allied side, the main forces were the British troops, but Polish, New Zealand, Australian, Indian, French and South African troops also fought there.

Box contents:

  • map: 2 x 50/70 cm, 1x 45/42 cm (to be assembled)
  • unit tokens
  • instructions + 8 scenarios
  • 2 dice
  • auxiliary tokens (masking, fortifications, destroyed bridges, disorganization and others)
