Description

The Race to Bastogne is a 'hex and counter' style game which puts you in charge of armored units from the US Army in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 World War II. You will be commanding small groups of Sherman tanks, Priest mobile artillery and Greyhound armored cars in order to clear routes across the freezing countryside to Bastogne, where the US 101st Airborne are surrounded by the enemy.

The aim of this game is to allow people to access the wargaming hobby easily, whether they are new to it or are just looking for something that is quick to get "to the table" and flexible in terms of how and when it is played. These books are great for holidays, working away or a lunchtime break, but can also be played with tokens, counters or miniatures if that is what the Player wants to do.

This book is a solitaire wargame. You play the game, and the book will provide the "enemy". You will need a pencil, eraser and at least 3 but preferably 5 standard six-sided dice. The idea is that you draw/write on the pages lightly in pencil, allowing you to replay missions as and when you choose. Some people might decide to photocopy the maps and others may even want to create their own counters or use miniatures or similar that they already possess. Some basic sample counters have been included at the end of the book which you can cut out or copy and stick to card if you wish.

Full-color rules with 12 replayable missions included.

Players: 1
Complexity: 2/5
Playing Time: 20-50 minutes per mission.
