Stukas Over the Mediterranean

Stukas Over the Mediterranean
Publish Date: 1999
Restockable: No
Type: Softcover

Description

The Stuka, although destined primarily for ground support in Hitler's major campaigns of conquest, also saw action over the Mediterranean, Italy, the Balkans and North Africa. Indeed, the Ju 87 had first seen action in southern Europe, flying in support of Franco's forces in the Spanish Civil War. The impact of this dive-bomber was as great here as in Russia and France and, whether bombing Malta or destroying Allied convoys, the Stuka earned a fearsome reputation.

This superb addition to the Luftwaffe at War series presents over one hundred rare photographs of German and Italian Ju 87s and examines their role in diverse campaigns such as the attack on Yugoslavia, the conquest of Greece, the battle for Crete, the air war in support of the Afrika Korps, the blitz on Malta, anti-shipping operations, the defense of Italy and operations by the night flying squadrons.
