Long ago humans and monsters went to war and humanity came out top. Monsters folk are forced to do the jobs that are too dangerous for humans to do themselves like driving truck in the Worstlands, which is just as bad as it sounds. And while the Worstlands is tough, the monsters are tougher and they’ll do whatever it takes to stick it to the (hu)man.

Monster Truckers is inspired by ’70s trucker movies and culture, classic movie monsters, a bit of Adventure Time and Mad Max, and the freewheeling freedom that was once promised to be out on the open road.

The Wilds of the Worstlands

The Worstlands are a place where humble monster folk human stragglers struggle to make a life. Strange, weird, and dangerous folks and creatures roam the broken land and the truckers cross paths with them while delivering freight. There’s all kinds of wild critters likes of gremlins and evil mutated turkeys. Bandits around every corner. Forgotten and horrible weapons of war lay dormant waiting to be discovered and activated. And don’t forget the Highway Patrol, the undead highway patrol enforcing laws that no longer exist.

Built on a Foundation of Fun

Monster Truckers features lightweight and easy to run game mechanics using Tri-Cube Tales from Zadmar games. Players roll 1-3 six-sided dice (depending on their archetype) against a difficulty of 4-6 (depending on the situation). They need to succeed with at least one die. Perks can be used to reduce the difficulty, while quirks can increase it. Players use “Script” tokens to power their Perks and they can increase difficulty to earn Script back. This simple set of core mechanics are used for everything, including combat. Players explore the world of Monster Truckers and get into some pretty wild and exciting shenanigans thanks to the rules which allow for a lot of freedom and over the top fun.
