GiftTRAP is an independent board game company based out of Kelowna BC, Canada. They have a successful background in small high tech startups and strong record in new product development and trend spotting and prediction. They are applying many of the social techniques of Web 2.0 and some innovative guerrilla marketing to help launch GiftTRAP. At 30,000 feet all the trends are the same. Board Games, Fashion, High Tech etc are all impacted by the same trends and forces. They almost think of GiftTRAP as Board-game 2.0. They’re reinventing many of the prior expectations of a board games. GiftTRAP provides a platform for a great social collaborative experience. It’s not about winning per se, but it is about you. There are no teams to hide behind. To win the game it doesn’t require specific knowledge but rather people skills and strong intuition. The good news is you can improve with practice. In fact once you play the game, you never stop. It has the effect of making you more attentive to the needs of others and to exploring your own preferences. The game and its unique theme of Gift Giving lends itself to the world in which they live in today. They are proud of their charity strategy and believe passionately in their cause to help rid the world of unwanted gifts. They aren’t just donating to charity, in addition through the content of the game they’re helping create conversations around charities and people’s personal preferences and the trade-off decision they wish to make in their world. Today each individual is a brand composed of all the decisions they make in our lives. GiftTRAP allows you to explore those decisions for yourself and for/with your friends and family. The world is a very different place than when the likes of Trivial Pursuit were launched back in the 80’s and even different from the landscape in which Cranium was launched in the late 90’s The world is ready for another big new game concept.
