Description

Even in the 1930s, contemporaries were already bitterly divided about why the Western democracies did not put an early stop to National Socialist aggression while it might still have been possible to prevent a second World War. However. After twenty years of detailed research in the policies of appeasement, it has become abundantly clear that the inability of Britani and France to stop Hitler in time was not simply due to misjudgment of his aggressive dynamics.
The contributions to this volume originate from papers given at a conference on The Threat to the International System by the Fascist Powers and the Policies of Appeasement in May of 1980.
