Description

1829 was the first of the 18xx series of games. It is a business game based on railways. Named from the year of the Rainhill Trials, which established the steam locomotive and thus started the "Railway Age", it can be played in two forms. In the railway game players are able to build and operate their own railway company and can attempt to frustrate and outdo their rivals. To this, the business game adds shares and shareholders, directors (and ploys to depose them), asset stripping, bankruptcies and other excitements.
