Another of Major Becker’s conversions was to fit the 7.5cm PaK40 gun to a up armoured French half-track so the anti-tank guns of the Panzergrenadier battalions could be used more aggressively like Marder panzerjagers rather than as more passive towed weapons.

Each Panzergrenadier Regiment of the 21. Panzerdivision had all of its battalion anti-tank guns carried in these self-propelled mountings. The standard 7.5cm PaK40 anti-tank gun is mounted in an open-topped armoured body on the SOMUA MCG5 half-track. Although the resulting vehicle is a little underpowered, it performed well.

Armament: 7.5cm PaK40, MG 42
Armour: 13mm (approximate)

In Flames Of War

The S307(f) (PaK40) anti-tank half-track can be found in the Armoured Anti-tank Platoon providing Weapons Platoon support for the Gepanzerte Panzergrenadierkompanie and Panzergrenadierkompanie of the 21. Panzerdivision in Monty’s Meatgrinder.

The 7.5cm PaK40 gun is more than enough to deal with every Allied tank available in Normandy except the new heavily armoured British Churchills, but these are still vulnerable from the side. The S307(f) mounted PaK40 has a Range 32”/80cm, ROF 2, Anti-tank 12 and Firepower 3+.

The S307(f) (PaK40) is a Tank team, and has Half-track mobility. Its Armour is Front 1, Side 0 and Top 0. Additionally it is fitted with an AA MG.

It is Unreliable; so take care not to Double unnecessarily. When stalking your prey from a wood or hedge remember if you are unlucky enough to roll a 1 and bog down, a 1 on your skill roll to unbog may result in a break down.
