You did not simply die.

The world forgot you.

Every trace influence, every rippled memory your life would have left has been erased from creation in a single cruel stroke. As far as reality can tell, you do not exist.

And yet, you survived this.

You live in a kind of purgatory now; a between-place where other dead things congregate. The locals call it the Castle, although it is so fast that entire kingdoms fit within. There are neighborhoods here that are filled with creatures like you: beings that were shed from the tangled timelines of the World of Life. They hail from countries you almost recognize and from continents that might have never existed.

Some of them will kill you.

Some you will kill in return.

Down here, death doesn’t stick to a body for long.

One of a rare few, you refuse to be humbled by the strangeness of your new environment. In a broken, half-wild metropolis of decadent vampires, dueling birds, concept-elementals, and military puppeteers you have begun to carve out a place for yourself.

Your tools are many. With the Arts Martial, you can summon the elements to do your bidding, bind blood to your will, or make phantasmal your flesh – reaching in and stilling an enemy’s heart without ever breaking his skin.

If that were not enough, you have the freedom to change your body. Your species. The very structure of your thoughts. This is a skill you’ll need; some of the creatures that crowd the streets have been here for millennia.

Remember your rage, newcomer. You’ll need it here. Oubliette beats a body senseless. You’ll have to beat it back.
