Historical Books from University of Illinois Press

The University of Illinois Press was established in 1918 as a not-for-profit scholarly publisher at the University. We became one of the founding members of the Association of American University Presses in 1937 and now rank as one of the country's larger and most distinguished university presses. We publish works of high quality for scholars, students, and the citizens of the state and beyond. Our headquarters are in Champaign, and we market and distribute our books worldwide. With a local staff of forty-six we bring out about 120 books each year, as well as 26 journals. We are especially strong in certain key areas. These include African-American studies, American history, American music, anthropology and archaeology, ethnic and immigration history, fiction and poetry, folklore, Judaica and Holocaust studies, labor history, literature, Mormon studies, music studies, religion, social history, and women's studies.
