Two players select their lineups from imaginary players or actual players converting their stats to the game data. The defensive team manager selects pitch types (Fast Ball, Off Speed, Pitch out, etc.) with a hidden "Pitch" card. Offensive manager must then select strategy (Steal, Bunt, Hit and Run, Long Ball, etc.) The two strategies are cross-indexed on a matrix table for final result.

Baseball Strategy by Avalon Hill

Reviewer: Ron Nordquist from Detroit, MI

Review: A fantastic simulation game. A lot more fun than statistical replay games. The players must really be involved in the decision making and a 3 run homer in the 7th is always exciting!
Uses a decision matrix, crossing a pitch selection (Fastball, Breaking Ball, off Speed) with a swing (bunt, go with the pitch, hit and run, long ball, etc)
Realistic results and scores, too.
If you love baseball action, you won't be disappointed with this one.
