The Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun was the standard machine gun of the Japanese Army. It was used in a range of duties even seeing use as an Anti Aircraft weapon (it had a maximum range of 4,500 meters!). The Allied soldiers who fought against it nicknamed it the "woodpecker" on account of the noise it made.
The Type 92 HMG gets it's name from the year it was first manufactured - 2592 Japanese Imperial Year (1932).
