Wizards of the Coast has been granted exclusive rights from Chaosium Inc. to publish the d20 rulebook for the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game. Call of Cthulhu, based primarily on the writings of Howard Phillips Lovecraft, was first published in 1981. Lovecraft, a seminal horror writer whose best-known works appeared in pulp magazines in the 1930s.
