In 1996, Avalanche Press astonished the wargaming world with Great War at Sea: Mediterranean. The game launched a series of games, plus more in the related Second World War at Sea series.
The game was notable for a number of achievements: the stunning artwork of its playing pieces, showing warships with sharp detail never seen before. It played quickly and smoothly, plus many scenarios and game situations.
