Review: First of all, this is part of the Wizards of the Coast line of Dungeon Tiles, that made the transition from the Dungeons and Dragons miniatures game / 3.5 era of gaming, into a functioning element of the whole Fourth Edition system. I`ve got just about all of the current tilesets, which are all on thick 2.5 mm cardboard, rather than flimsy card stock, and the art is up to par for what you`d expect from Wizards of the Coast and Dungeons and Dragons.

This set, Harrowing Halls, is designed to give you both a first floor of a building, and a sub-floor basement on either side of the tiles. That is to say, you can either set up the first floor of a manor, or flip the tiles and create a smallish dungeon setting.

This is most certainly not the first set of these tiles you should buy, however.

Included in this set are two pages with three dimensional features for dungeons you`d create. These are definitely the standout feature of this set, however, this also reduces the number of tiles you get overall otherwise.

I`m giving this set an 8, only because the amount of additional real estate in the set is meager when compared to straight Dungeon Tile sets like Halls of the Giant Kings, which are good for beginning DMs who need some quick terrain.

Also, the Dungeon Tile Master Sets are incredibly useful to the DM who likes having a good representation on the board for fourth edition or any other iteration of 5` = 1 square movement based games.

Besides the lack of additional tiles issue, there are no assembly instructions given for the three dimensional features. Since it`s tab and slot, most terrain builders will be able to figure it out easily. However, if this is your first foray into three dimensional papercraft, be prepared for a little bit of trial and error. Again, this takes away from the final score.

The three dimensional features included are: A flight of stairs, a free standing door, a 4x4 pillar which stands at the same height as the stairs, a 5x5 platform at the same height of the stairs, and two 2x5 platforms that stand halfway up the height of the stairs. Included is also a rope bridge/stone bridge 2x10 flat that can connect the terrain platforms.

Final verdict: Definitely pick this up, though it may be more useful after you purchase one of the Master Sets.
