This book of scenarios for 1918 has been chiefly designed with the Bloody Picnic rules in mind, although the games could be played with other rules. In selecting these battles I have tried to provide variety. While they all involve an attacker and defender, there is plenty of variation on the theme, ranging from a two battalion trench raid up to a divisional attack supported by tanks as well as terrain which includes mountains and river crossings.
Not all the scenarios are straight forward games. 'Stormtrooper' involves the players all taking the part of the attackers, while 'The Taking of Montdidier' is a mini-campaign which can be played as a board game /scenario generator or just as a board game.
All the games can be played with variations in the nationalities being used. For example, 'The Green Fields' is described using Germans attacking the British. Actually, during 1918 nearly all the nationalities had opportunities to be both attackers and defenders in 'the green fields'. To this end, the last part of this book is a list of divisional organizations for the British, French, American, Italian, German and Austro-Hungarian infantry and cavalry, providing players with the freedom to use whatever armies they like.
