Cold Dark Grave takes place in Yres, in the Regina subsector. The Regina sub sector is one of the two systems involved in the last battle of the Fourth Frontier War. The adventure starts post Fifth Frontier War.
The characters work for a small family own mining company that has fallen on hard times. The Company Emsteyn Industrial Materials also known as EIM has been seeking other types of contracts in order to avoid bankruptcy. The owner has built EIM up from the ground and does not want to layoff any of his crews. The company looking for contracts comes upon a possible lucrative one. The contract is a recovery operation of a derelict merchantman lost deep in space near Yres. The completion of the contract can resolve the financial situation EIM has found itself in.
The job is simple.
The patron of the job is well known to EIM and has been a close family friend.

Cold Dark Grave is based off the beloved BITS tournament adventure that ran at GenCon UK 2005. The authors have greatly extended the adventure, enriching it to allow any Game Master to fit the adventure or parts of it into their Traveller Universe. The adventure can be ran as a stand alone tournament with the instructions in the player option section of the book.
