Mysticards is a card game for four players, ages 8 & up, that are divided into two teams of two. One game consists of several hands, with each hand being made up of 15 tricks. During each trick, every player gets to play one card, with the best card winning the trick. There are 6 suits, or colors, of 10 cards each, and the ranks of the cards range from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest.
The catch is that every card in every suit has some unique effect on the current trick or hand. In Mysticards: Deck of Dragons, the highest ranked cards are all different types of Dragons, like wyverns and hydras. However, one must play them carefully as players get extra points if they can defeat an enemy Dragon. Spell cards change the color of trump, Gemstones bestow bonus or penalty points, Nature cards weaken the opponents' Warriors, and Location cards change the way other cards are played. The rest of the deck is comprised of the Warriors, both human and monstrous, which have almost every effect imaginable.
At the end of each hand, each team receives 50 points for every trick they managed to take. In addition, the team that takes the most tricks, 8 or more, is awarded 250 victory points. Teams also get points for collecting Gemstones and defeating their opponents' Dragons. Each hand generally takes only 15 minutes to play, with a game ending in an hour or two when one team amasses 4000 points.
