Richard Berg's East-West covers two small and bloody Confederate victories far from the main theaters of the American Civil War. The 1862 Battle of Valverde resulted from Confederate moves to control the Southwest. The 1864 Battle of Olustee was caused by the Union attempt to stop the shipment of cattle from Florida to the Rebel armies. A die-initiated leader activation is used instead of turns. For a Berg wargame the complexity is low. 75 yards/hex, unit counters represent a little over 100 men. Two 17x22 inch maps (each in two sections) and 280 counters.
