Review: Given the level of magic in a D&D campaign, how advanced could civilizations get when utilizing it in many aspects of everyday life? The Eberron setting endeavors to answer that for you. Eberron is a "high-magic" campaign setting where all is not as it seems. One thing I particularly enjoyed is the designer's (Keith Baker) deviation from some of the "traditional" D&D campaign aspects, like doing away with alignment specific characteristics of creatures. Not all chromatic dragons are evil for instance.
In Eberron, there are airships and submersibles (though not common), magical sentient constructs created for war but are now "liberated" from their original purpose as battlefield troops, psionically enhanced races capable of great malice, these are just a few of things which I found intriguing about the campaign setting.
A refreshing alternative to Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms, the Eberron campaign setting is the brightest gem in WOTC's D&D campaign line. Well- in my opinion anyway.
