Description

Permit me, if you will, to tell you of another world...a world call Darkus Thel. In some ways it is a world rather like your own, but in other ways it is quite different. Darkus Thel lies not merely in another portion of space, but in another plane of existence, a different 'dimension' than the one that cradles Earth. Most of the same laws of nature still apply; objects still fall downward and fire is still hot. There are some variations in the natural elements, the most important being that most explosives remain stable on Darkus Thel

Whereas your world has but one dominant species, Darkus Thel has given rise to eight. As the dominant species of Darkus Thel have always shared the great continent, there is little bigotry between them. Not that there is no conflict, but the conflict is between governments and individuals. Except for the innately stable Jedkree, all the rest, humankind and Skurr, have their full share of greed, jealousy and anger. Being still fight and die for wealth, power and pride.

In general, the technology of Darkus Thel is rather like that of medieval Earth. There are some noteworthy differences, however. Darkus Thelian knowledge of metallurgy is far most sophisticated than that of medieval Earth. Darkus Thelian metalsmiths have learned to form alloys of gold, sliver or platinum that have the appearances of the finest pure metals and have the strength and edge of the finest tempered steel. The artisans are magnificently skilled at working metals, stone, cloth and all manner of materials. Master craftsmen are adept at constructing sophisticated arrangements of springs, pulleys and counterweights. A door weighing tons might be so precisely set and balanced as to open with the push of a finger. Seams in stone, metal or wood may become nearly impossible to see.

The greatest difference in Darkus Thellian technology stems from the use of magic. For thousands of years magic has been an integral part of most Darkus Thelian cultures. In many instances, magic has nullified the need for technological innovation.

How do I know these things? Who am I to tell you this? My name is Sendecai and I am a sorcerer and humble scholar. I am also a survivor of the depths. I have dared the Keeps for some years and have seen many wondrous things. I am one who always suspected that there were worlds beyond my own and have dared much to know them. Perhaps you are like this too? If so, come with me to the high adventures of the Keeps. Test your wit and skill in a world called Darkus Thel. Come... Dare!
